Supporting Line Managers in People Management (UK / London – CIPD Aligned)

We are seeking a freelancer with strong UK HR and CIPD knowledge to develop a practical people management support guide for line managers. The content must reflect UK employment law, CIPD guidance, and common people management challenges faced by organisations operating in London and the wider UK.
The focus should be on practical, compliant, and workplace-ready guidance rather than theory alone.
The freelancer will develop clear and structured content to support line managers in managing people effectively within a UK employment context. The work should cover the following areas:
Responsibilities of line managers in managing people in UK workplaces
How line managers work in partnership with HR
Understanding decision-making limits and when to escalate issues to HR
Supporting fair and lawful recruitment and selection processes
Awareness of equality and right-to-work requirements
Supporting effective onboarding and induction in line with UK standards
Setting objectives aligned with business and team goals
Conducting performance reviews and regular feedback conversations
Managing underperformance in a fair and documented manner
Building positive working relationships in diverse London workplaces
Effective communication across multicultural teams
Supporting employee wellbeing, motivation, and engagement
Managing absence, lateness, and conduct issues appropriately
Supporting disciplinary and grievance processes in line with company policy
Handling basic workplace conflicts professionally
Identifying development needs and skills gaps
Supporting continuous professional development (CPD)
Encouraging learning and career progression
Basic understanding of UK employment law principles
Applying company policies consistently and fairly
Promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion in line with UK legislation
A professionally structured guidance document (Word or PDF)
